SPVD+ (Smart Parking Violation Detection Plus)

About the Project
SPVD+ (Smart Parking Violation Detection Plus) was inspired by an actual parking and traffic safety issue observed outside KPTM Bangi. Due to limited on-campus parking, many college residents park their vehicles along the roadside outside the campus, resulting in frequent double parking near the main entrance. Although this public road is outside the jurisdiction of the college, the vehicles involved are predominantly owned by KPTM Bangi students, staff, and visitors. Consequently, the issue has a direct impact on campus accessibility, traffic flow, and emergency response readiness. This initiative enables the college to proactively monitor parking-related risks, collect objective evidence, and support the relevant government authorities responsible for road traffic enforcement. SPVD+ is proposed as an AI-powered Computer Vision system that intelligently detects double parking violations and monitors emergency lane accessibility using YOLO (You Only Look Once) and OpenCV. The system performs real-time vehicle detection, captures visual evidence, assesses the severity of road obstruction, and provides decision support for campus security personnel through automated monitoring, violation alerts, and risk assessment. By facilitating data-driven monitoring and collaboration with the appropriate authorities, SPVD+ contributes to safer traffic management while respecting the legal jurisdiction of public roads.
