About the Project

Road accidents at sharp curves continue to pose a major safety challenge due to limited visibility, inadequate road lighting, and delayed emergency response following collisions. Existing road lighting systems mainly focus on illumination and lack integrated features for accident detection and real-time notification. To address these limitations, this project introduces the Dynaguard Barrier System (DBS), an innovative road safety solution that combines automatic barrier lighting, impact detection, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology into a single intelligent system. The Dynaguard Barrier System operates by activating barrier-mounted LED lighting when vehicle movement is detected, thereby enhancing visibility at hazardous sharp curves while optimizing energy consumption. In the event of a collision, an impact sensor immediately detects the incident and transmits a real-time alert to a smartphone via the Telegram application, enabling faster response from road users or relevant authorities. The system integrates motion sensors, impact sensors, a microcontroller, and IoT communication to provide continuous monitoring and rapid emergency notification. Prototype testing demonstrated that the system successfully activated the lighting in response to approaching vehicles, accurately detected collision events, and delivered instant Telegram notifications with reliable performance. By integrating preventive and responsive safety features into a single platform, the Dynaguard Barrier System enhances driver awareness while reducing response time during emergencies. This innovation offers a practical, low-cost, and scalable solution that has the potential to be implemented at accident-prone locations, particularly sharp curves and rural roads. The Dynaguard Barrier System represents a next-generation approach to intelligent road infrastructure by combining automation, safety monitoring, and IoT communication to create safer and more sustainable transportation environments.
