About the Project

SecondLife AI is a mobile-accessible web application designed to combat the global crisis of electronic waste by transitioning asset management toward a sustainable circular economy. The software evaluates aging mechanical and electronic devices through user-provided data or smartphone images, utilizing machine learning models to estimate condition, repairability, and remaining useful life. Based on these evaluations, a routing engine determines the most appropriate pathway for the item, selecting options such as reuse, repair, or recycling. Furthermore, the platform features an intelligent recipient-matching system that prioritizes nearby schools, charities, and workshops using weighted factors like demand, proximity, and environmental impact. Currently operating as a functional prototype, this tool successfully addresses corporate and community disposal challenges by recovering asset value and diverting functional equipment away from landfills.
