About the Project
Ocean Guardian is an educational game developed using Scratch to promote awareness of ocean conservation, marine biodiversity and sustainable use of marine resources. Inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water), the project aims to educate pupils about the threats facing marine ecosystems and encourage responsible actions to protect ocean life. The game features three interactive levels. In Level 1, players collect and remove rubbish from the ocean to reduce marine pollution and protect aquatic animals. In Level 2, players explore sustainable fishing practices through interactive AprilTag-based activities, learning the importance of responsible fishing and conserving marine resources. In Level 3, players answer questions related to SDG 14 to rescue a turtle trapped in a dangerous situation, reinforcing their understanding of marine conservation. Through engaging gameplay, interactive challenges and environmental storytelling, Ocean Guardian integrates digital creativity, problem-solving and computational thinking with environmental education. The project provides an enjoyable learning experience that helps pupils understand the impact of human activities on marine ecosystems and the importance of sustainable ocean management. Ultimately, Ocean Guardian aims to inspire young learners to become responsible ocean protectors and contribute to cleaner oceans, healthier marine habitats and a sustainable future for all marine life.
