About the Project

ENVIROX (Environmental Safety System) is an intelligent safety system based on the Internet of Things (IoT), developed to enhance the safety of chemical storage rooms in schools. Butane gas leaks are difficult to detect at an early stage because the gas is invisible to the naked eye, thereby increasing the risk of fire, explosion, and accidents. To address this issue, ENVIROX uses an ESP32 as the main microcontroller, an MQ-2 sensor to detect butane gas leaks, a temperature sensor to monitor environmental conditions, and an ultrasonic sensor to detect and count user movement in and out of the room. The system is also equipped with a buzzer, LED, and real-time notifications through an IoT platform, enabling immediate alerts and action when sensor readings exceed the predefined threshold values. Testing results showed that ENVIROX successfully detected butane gas leaks, monitored temperature changes, and recorded user movement effectively. The system provides automatic early warnings and real-time monitoring, helping to reduce the risk of accidents and enhance the safety level of chemical storage rooms. The added value of ENVIROX lies in the integration of three safety monitoring functions into a single IoT system that is simple, cost-effective, and easy to use. The system has the potential to be applied in schools, science laboratories, RBT workshops, educational institutions, and premises that use flammable gases. With its low development cost and scalable design, ENVIROX has the potential to be commercialized as an intelligent safety monitoring system for the education and industrial sectors.
