About the Project

The growing use of online learning in higher education highlights the need for innovative teaching approaches that promote active participation and meaningful learning. Teaching Arabic as a third language presents challenges in maintaining students’ attention, motivation and engagement. To address these issues, ARAB-ENGAGE: Enhancing Arabic Learning with ClassPoint integrates interactive slides with ClassPoint to create a more engaging online learning experience. The innovation incorporates multimedia presentations, interactive quizzes, live questions, vocabulary challenges, gamification and real-time feedback to encourage active participation and provide immediate learning support. ARAB-ENGAGE introduces the proposed 5A Interactive Arabic Learning Framework: Attract, Activate, Apply, Assess and Advance. This framework guides lecturers in capturing attention, activating prior knowledge, facilitating language practice, assessing understanding and extending learning through meaningful communication activities. The innovation also enables lecturers to monitor student responses and identify learning difficulties. Its potential effectiveness can be evaluated through participation records, pre- and post-assessment results, classroom observations and student feedback. Commercialization opportunities include interactive slide packages, digital activity banks, teaching kits and professional development workshops for Arabic language educators. By combining digital technology with Arabic-specific pedagogical strategies, ARAB-ENGAGE offers an adaptable approach to student-centred online language learning. Further implementation and evaluation are required to establish its effectiveness and educational impact.
