Understanding the Evaluation Process
Once your team has been approved and the judging period begins, your project enters the evaluation phase. Your participant dashboard reflects each stage: after approval you will see Awaiting Judging, then Awaiting Results once judging closes, and finally Completed after the organiser publishes results and releases certificates.
How Scoring Works
Each project is evaluated by one or more assigned jury members using a structured rubric. A rubric breaks the evaluation down into specific criteria — for example: innovation, technical quality, presentation, and impact — each with its own maximum score.
Some competitions have more than one judging round — for example, a video evaluation round and an on-site presentation round. Each round carries its own percentage weight, and the organiser combines the rounds into a single weighted final score. A team that only took part in some rounds is not penalised with a zero; the final score blends the rounds the team actually participated in.
Who Are the Jury Members?
Jury members are subject-matter experts appointed by the competition organiser. They are assigned to evaluate specific teams only. Pentas checks for conflicts of interest so that jury members never evaluate teams they are connected to — for example, their own students or colleagues' teams.
On-Site Judging Day
If your competition includes on-site judging, your project card on the participant dashboard will show your booth number and presentation time once the organiser publishes the schedule. Arrive at your booth before your scheduled slot and be ready to present to the assigned jury.
Can I See My Scores?
Individual jury scores are confidential during the evaluation phase. Final results are published by the competition organiser after all scores are verified and finalised — until then, your dashboard will show Awaiting Results.
After Evaluation
- Results are published on the competition results page
- Winners are notified via email
- Certificates are generated and released by the organiser for download from your dashboard
- Award letters are issued to applicable winners
