About the Project
Conventional waste management often relies on manual monitoring, making it difficult to identify bin locations, monitor fill levels, and respond promptly to overflowing bins. To address these issues, SMART ECO-BIN, an IoT-based smart waste management system, was developed using ESP32, GPS, ultrasonic, IR, and LDR sensors integrated with a servo motor, LED, and Blynk application. The system enables real-time monitoring of bin locations and waste levels, automatic lid opening, and LED illumination during low-light conditions. Mothballs are also incorporated to help deter insects and maintain better hygiene. The collected data supports waste collection planning by identifying accumulation patterns and peak periods. Overall, SMART ECO-BIN provides a practical and scalable solution for cleaner, smarter, and more efficient waste management.
