NextPage: An Interactive Investigative Reading Series for Developing Higher-Order Reading Skills among Malaysian Primary School Pupils

About the Project

Reading comprehension remains a significant challenge among Malaysian primary school pupils, particularly in developing higher-order reading skills. NextPage is an interactive investigative reading series for Stage 2 pupils (Years 4–6) that transforms conventional reading into an evidence-driven investigative experience. Through school-based mysteries, pupils interpret narrative passages, authentic documents, visual clues, and branching pathways to evaluate evidence, justify decisions, and construct evidence-supported outcomes. Aligned with the CEFR-aligned KSSR English curriculum, NextPage promotes higher-order reading skills, learner engagement, metacognitive awareness, autonomous learning, and reading for pleasure while offering strong potential for classroom, digital, and blended learning environments.
