My-I-Heart DM Score: A Smart Web Calculator to Uncover Hidden Heart Disease in Diabetes Clinics

About the Project

Ischaemic heart disease often goes undetected in people with type 2 diabetes until a cardiac event occurs. The My-I-Heart DM Score is a simple, low-cost tool that turns 15 routinely recorded clinical factors into a low, intermediate or high risk group, helping primary care clinics decide who needs cardiac assessment first. Developed and tested on 31,763 patient records over three time periods, it performed consistently (AUC 0.686–0.694), with heart disease rising from about 3% in the low-risk group to 25% in the high-risk group. An AI layer (XGBoost) refines prioritisation. It is available now as a free web calculator.
