About the Project
Shopping is an essential daily activity, yet consumers still face common challenges such as long checkout queues, overspending, difficulty locating products, and limited access to useful product information. IntelliCart is an innovative smart shopping basket designed to transform the conventional shopping experience into a faster, smarter, and more sustainable process. By integrating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Augmented Reality (AR), and mobile application technology, IntelliCart enables automatic product scanning, real-time spending tracking, AR-based product navigation, interactive product information tutorial videos and secure QR code exit verification. Unlike conventional smart carts that are owned and restricted to specific retailers, IntelliCart is a portable, foldable, and reusable consumer-owned solution that can be carried across different retail environments. Its eco-friendly design using recycled materials also reduces reliance on single-use plastic bags. With an affordable proposed price of RM150, IntelliCart aims to make smart retail technology more accessible to consumers while encouraging informed and responsible purchasing decisions. The proposed innovation demonstrates strong potential to enhance customer convenience, promote sustainable shopping practices, and support the digital transformation of the retail industry.
