HEALORA: AI-Driven Intelligent Gauze for Continuous Wound Monitoring and Predictive Healing Assessment is an innovative smart wound dressing designed to improve wound care through continuous, non-invasive monitoring. Wounds such as cuts, abrasions, burns, surgical wounds and chronic wounds require proper monitoring to ensure appropriate healing. However, conventional gauze mainly provides physical protection and offers limited information about the wound condition without being removed. Frequent dressing removal may cause discomfort and disturb the healing environment. Therefore, HEALORA aims to provide a smarter approach to wound monitoring while maintaining wound protection. The main objectives of HEALORA are to continuously monitor wound conditions, identify potential abnormalities at an early stage, and provide predictive insights into the healing process. The proposed system uses temperature, pH, and moisture sensors integrated into the gauze to collect real-time wound-environment data. The data are analysed using an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system to identify abnormal patterns and assess the wound’s healing progress. A digital dashboard displays the wound status, while a colour-changing indicator provides a simple visual warning when changes require attention. The novelty of HEALORA lies in combining intelligent gauze, multiple sensors, AI-based analysis, and visual indication into a single wound dressing system. This enables monitoring without frequent removal of the dressing. The innovation is applicable to home healthcare, clinics, hospitals, sports-related injuries, post-surgical care and other wound-management settings. Its commercial value lies in its potential as a smart medical and wearable healthcare product that could be developed in different sizes and applications according to user needs. HEALORA has the potential to support earlier recognition of wound changes, improve monitoring efficiency and encourage timely clinical assessment. For commercialization, the system can be developed as disposable or replaceable smart gauze with a reusable electronic monitoring component and a connected digital platform.
