About the Project
ExoMotion is an innovative, low-cost robotic wearable system designed to support physical rehabilitation and improve mobility among individuals with movement difficulties. The innovation addresses the limitations of conventional rehabilitation, which can be costly, time-consuming, and highly dependent on continuous assistance from therapists. ExoMotion aims to provide accessible, personalized, and data-driven rehabilitation by assisting users in performing movements safely and independently. The system consists of interchangeable lower-limb and upper-limb units that can support walking, standing, leg strengthening, hand, wrist, elbow, and arm movements. It is developed using lightweight and durable materials such as carbon fiber frames, adjustable straps, soft padding, actuators, pressure sensors, motion sensors, and an integrated control unit. The system uses smart sensors to detect the user's movements and provide appropriate robotic assistance, while Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity enable real-time data synchronization with a mobile application. The novelty of ExoMotion lies in its modular dual-function design, combining upper- and lower-limb rehabilitation in one wearable system. Its AI-powered assistance can adapt the level of support according to the user's movement and rehabilitation progress. The mobile application provides real-time monitoring, personalized therapy programmes, progress analytics, reminders, and remote access for therapists. Therefore, ExoMotion can be applied in rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, physiotherapy centres, and home-based rehabilitation. It is particularly suitable for stroke recovery, spinal cord injury, orthopedic rehabilitation, post-surgery recovery, and elderly mobility support. From a commercial perspective, ExoMotion has strong potential because its lightweight, affordable, adjustable, and reusable design can make robotic rehabilitation more accessible to a wider population. The innovation can be marketed to healthcare institutions, rehabilitation centres, physiotherapists, and individual users. Its remote monitoring and data-driven features can also support the development of modern tele-rehabilitation services. Overall, ExoMotion has the potential to reduce rehabilitation barriers, improve patient independence, enhance therapy outcomes, and contribute to a more affordable and technologically advanced healthcare system.
