ECOSYNC AI : Smart Room Scheduling and Energy Optimization System

About the Project

Climate change and rising energy demand have intensified the need for energy-efficient building operations. Buildings account for a substantial proportion of global electricity consumption and associated carbon emissions. Nevertheless, many educational institutions, commercial buildings, hotels and office facilities continue to operate lighting and air-conditioning systems manually, resulting in significant energy wastage when spaces are unoccupied. Existing energy-saving mechanisms such as motion sensors, provide reactive control but fail to leverage room scheduling and booking information for proactive energy management. The absence of intelligent systems that integrate artificial intelligence with room utilization data represents a critical gap in achieving optimal energy efficiency and reducing environmental impacts. Therefore, this project presents the EcoSync AI to automatically control lighting and air conditioning based on room schedules and bookings. It aims to bring energy usage down, energy efficiency and sustainability in new and existing buildings by retrofit. In this project, we have developed the smart room scheduling and energy optimization system based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) according to room schedules and booking and electricity use automatically. Unlike the manual operation or motion sensors that currently used, EcoSync AI can optimize energy consumption according to the room schedule and booking, occupancy rate, besides providing insights on current energy saving and net carbon emission. This innovation supports the nations’ inspiration to contribute in achieving Sustainable Development Goals of SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG9 (Industry,Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG13 (Climate Action). EcoSync AI has high commercialization potential which can be utilized by technology companies and property developers for a competitive smart room solution.
