About the Project
EcoClass Shield 1.0 is an innovative smart classroom environmental monitoring and control system developed to address indoor air quality and uncomfortable temperature conditions in the learning environment. The project integrates particulate matter and temperature sensors to collect real-time environmental data, while the EcoClass Comfort Index (ECCI) is used as an indicator to analyse classroom comfort levels based on the combination of air quality and temperature measurements. Data collected during the testing phase were analysed to compare changes in air quality and temperature before and after the automated control system was activated. The analysis showed that the automated ventilation and misting systems helped improve environmental conditions and maintain a more comfortable classroom environment. In addition, monitoring through an Internet of Things (IoT) dashboard enables real-time data visualisation for classroom observation and management. Overall, EcoClass Shield 1.0 contributes to improved environmental quality management and raises awareness of the importance of clean air and learning comfort. The project also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting a healthier and safer learning environment, and SDG 4: Quality Education by creating a more comfortable and conducive environment that supports effective teaching and learning. Furthermore, the project demonstrates the potential of STEM, IoT, and automation technologies in creating smarter, healthier, and more sustainable classrooms.
