CraftMatch: A Web Platform for Creative and Sustainable Crafting

About the Project

CraftMatch is a website that helps users discover craft projects based on materials they already have. While most online searches require users to know what they want to make, CraftMatch starts with the available materials, making it easier to find suitable craft ideas. Users select their materials and click “Find Craft Ideas” to view matching projects. Each project displays the required materials and tools, difficulty level, estimated completion time, and whether it is ready to make. The website also highlights missing materials that users may already have but have not selected. Users can save projects for later or access step-by-step tutorials through YouTube links. Designed for pupils, teachers, families, and communities, CraftMatch supports creative learning and encourages the reuse of everyday materials. It aims to reduce unnecessary purchases and waste while making crafting more accessible. The motto for the project is “Choose what you have. Discover what you can make.”
