About the Project
University lecturers balance teaching, research, supervision, administration, and professional development, often facing overlapping deadlines and conflicting expectations. Grounded in Job Demands–Resources theory, this paper presents Academic RoleBalance, a digital toolkit designed to support academic workload and role conflict management. Its five modules comprise a Workload Mapper, Priority Planner, Role Conflict Navigator, Work–Life Boundary Planner, and Progress Dashboard. Using a design science approach, the paper describes the prototype’s development, functions, and intended applications. Unlike institutional workload allocation systems, the toolkit supports individual planning and decision-making in everyday practice. Future usability testing will assess its practicality and potential value for university lecturers.
